townhouse planting design, winchester, hampshire

Client Brief

Planting design project for a Georgian style new build town house in Winchester. The main layout and hard landscaping was installed by a landscape contractor and we were brought in to provide a planting scheme. A challenging site with a lot of dry shade. The clients, two busy professional asked for mainly low maintenance planting with year round interest and as many flowering highlights as possible especially with roses!

Key Features

  • Shade tolerant evergreens for structure and low maintenance.
  • Small woodland trees for seasonal interest.
  • A focus on spring flowering bulbs and perennials before the deciduous canopy closes in.
  • A raised planter near the house for pottering incorporating ornamental and ‘edimental’ planting.
